DIY Healing Barrier Repair Oil (Simple At-Home Recipe)
If your skin has been feeling dry, irritated, or just not bouncing back the way it should, this is something simple you can try at home.
I’m big on using plants with purpose—not just mixing oils randomly—and this blend focuses on soothing, restoring, and supporting your skin barrier using a few powerful ingredients.
🌿 What This Oil Helps With
- Dry, rough, or flaky skin
- Skin that feels irritated or sensitive
- Supporting your natural skin barrier
- Locking in moisture without feeling heavy
🧴 Ingredients (Small Batch)
- 1 tbsp moringa leaves (powder or crushed)
- 1 tbsp calendula flowers (cut into smaller pieces)
- 8 tbsp jojoba oil
- 3 tbsp hemp seed oil
- 10+ drops vitamin E oil (for longer shelf life)
- 1–2 drops lavender essential oil (optional)
⚠️ Before You Start
- Always use dried herbs (fresh = mold risk)
- Herbs should fill about ¼ to ½ of your jar
- Make sure herbs are fully covered with oil to prevent spoilage
🔥 Easy 2–4 Hour Infusion Method
Step 1: Add Herbs
Place moringa and calendula into a clean, dry glass jar.
Step 2: Add Oils
Pour in jojoba and hemp oil. Make sure the herbs are completely covered—add more oil if needed.
Step 3: Warm Infusion
Place the jar in a warm water bath (not boiling). Keep heat low and let it sit for 2–4 hours, stirring occasionally.
Step 4: Strain
Let it cool, then strain using a fine strainer, cheesecloth, or even a coffee sock. Take your time here for a smoother oil.
Step 5: Finish
Add vitamin E oil and optional lavender essential oil. Mix well and pour into a clean dropper bottle.
✨ How to Use
Apply 2–3 drops on damp skin, gently pressing into face and neck.
- Use at night or under your moisturizer
- A little goes a long way
💡 Tips for Best Results
- Keep heat low—never boil your oils
- Store in a dark glass bottle
- Keep water out of your mixture
- Shelf life: about 3–6 months (trust your nose)
